The Titanic Belfast attraction in Northern Ireland opened in 2012, and has recently been chosen as one of eight attractions in the running for the best travel attraction in the world as chosen by the World Travel Awards.
The attraction has replicas of the original Titanic, as well as exhibitions that demonstrate things about the ship’s construction and what went wrong in its demise. Visitor can also go on walking tours to see where the ship was actually built.
Eimear Lewis, the communications manager for the Titanic Belfast shared their enthusiasm having been nominated for the award.
“We’re obviously delighted that we’ve been nominated. We’re more than up for the challenge.”
The Titanic Belfast is currently in the running against attractions like Mt. Kilimanjaro and Machu Picchu. Last year’s winner was the Las Vegas strip, which is in the running to win once again. The voters who choose each year’s winner include industry professionals and well as visitors, and people are encouraged to vote while the contest is still open until October 24.
More than three million people have visited the attraction since its opening in 2012, making it one of Europe’s leading attractions as it is.
