Recently while out metal detecting with the guys we ran into a hunter who was out scouting for the upcoming fall season and we had a conversation about the area. He told us of another supposed cellar hole somewhere near where we had recently been digging and that really intrigued me. So in this video i go hiking and exploring looking for it in an area that is not only thick hilly forest but the word is that there has been two mountain lion sitings in the past month….whoa!
So, i go with caution and spend several hours combing the land in search of a cellar hole from the mid 1700’s that would have been abandoned in the late 1700’s. These colonial homesites in New Hampshire could be anywhere as these early settlers built on whatever land was available to them despite how bad the terrain was.
So take a hike with Digger Charlie looking for lost New Hampshire history.
